Wynne left for Adidas in 1995 to become the CEO for the Portland-based affiliate of the German company. Thomas Balmer rejoined the firm in 1997, and served as the firm's managing partner. Bass, president and CEO of Buchalter, issued a statement explaining that the acquisition of Ater Wynne enabled Buchalter to "continue helping business leaders and innovators throughout the Pacific Northwest stay ahead of the curve". Buchalter added 22 attorneys from the acquisition.
