Geology

Arras Mountain is composed of sedimentary rock laid down during the

to Jurassic periods. Formed in shallow seas, this sedimentary rock was pushed east and over the top of younger rock during the Laramide orogeny. The northwest aspect of the mountain conspicuously displays vertically-tilted

strata. Topographic relief is significant as the west aspect of the peak rises over above Icefall Brook in less than two kilometres.
