Helwani has claimed that Abdelaziz called Helwani's boss while he worked for ESPN and tried to have the journalist fired. "Despite all of that, I would shake his hand if he walked in here right now and bury the hatchet."
As of August 2022, most of Abdelaziz's clients still declined to be interviewed by Helwani, with some exceptions.
Helwani has expressed confusion at why those fighters allow someone who works for them, tell them what to do.
