The home was established in 1949 as a ministry of the Independent Pentecostal Churches. It was formerly called the Barbourville Pentecostal Children's Home. Since 2001 it has been operated by Steve and Alice Yeary."Appalachian Children's Home Endowed Scholarship for Social Work Established at LMU"
