Born in 1844 in the department of
Orne Orne (; nrf, Ôrne or ) is a département in the northwest of France, named after the river Orne. It had a population of 279,942 in 2019. Right from the start, the quality of her work attracted attention. Thus when she exhibited ''La Prière'' at the Salon of 1866, a columnist from the magazine ''Le Foyer'' said "... a talent that announced itself in such a naive and touching way, revealing serious and good qualities, auguring very well for the artistic future of Miss Dubos."
