In 1973 he graduated with honors from
Armavir Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots (russian: Армавирское высшее военное авиационное училище лётчиков). In 2012, he was dismissed, officially for age reasons.
Nogovitsyn died in Moscow on 5 November 2019.
