Alpan is a village and municipality in the Quba Rayon of Azerbaijan.


History

Alpan is considered one of the oldest villages in Azerbaijan. According to historians, the origin of the name Alpan is associated with the name of ancient

. The population of the village is ethnically mainly of Turkish origin. The village has its own unique traditions that go back to ancient times and have survived to the present day. The village is famous for its culinary culture, which has come from ancient times to the present day, original types of bread (bozlam, etc.). Also in 1796, a battle took place in the village between the Khan of Quba Sheikhal Khan and a detachment of Russian troops under the command of Bulgakov. At that time, Sheikh Ali Khan, with the help of Surkhay Khan, with 10 thousand people, arrived in the village of Alpine. Bulgakov sent a thousand soldiers and several cannons in front of him. A fierce battle took place between them. Due to the difficult position, many were killed on both sides, and the Russians retreated.


Religion

The population of the Alpin village has been practicing Islam for a long time, and the village mosque is used during religious ceremonies. The Alpine mosque was built in 1806 by the master Pirgulu with the participation of the rural community under the leadership of Ibrahim Bey. The village mosque, built in 1814 to perform religious rites, was used for religious purposes until the early years of the USSR. However, in the following years, the village mosque was used for 70 years as a granary of a collective farm and a state farm. Currently, the village mosque is no longer a grain storage place.
