Umpiring career

Porter's Major League umpiring debut was in early 2010 and he umpired a total of 35 major league games that season. He returned in 2011 to officiate in 121 big league games. Porter was hired to the full-time MLB staff in January 2013. Porter was the home plate umpire for

Personal

Porter is married to his wife Allison, and they have two sons Alan III (Trey) and Alexander. Porter graduated high school in 1995 from Hatboro-Horsham High School in Horsham, PA where he starred in football and baseball.
