It consists of nine islands located in the Sea of Marmara. The nine islands are Burgazada, Kınalıada, Sedefadasi, Yassıad, Büyükada, Heybeliada, Sivriada, Tavşanadasi and Kasikadasi .Buyukada is the most populous and the largest.
