The 95th Battalion, CEF, was an infantry battalion of the Great War

History


Formation

The 95th Battalion was authorized on 22 December 1915. The 95th Battalion recruited in, and was mobilized at, Toronto, Ontario.Meek, John F. ''Over the Top! It embarked for Britain from Halifax on RMS Olympic on 31 May 1916, disembarking at Liverpool, England, on 8 June 1916, with a total of 36 officers and 1,061 other ranks. Combat

Disbanded

The 95th Battalion was disbanded on 4 August 1917 by Privy Council Order 1895 of 17 July 1917.Canadian Forces Publication A-DH-267-003 Insignia and Lineages of the Canadian Forces. Volume 3: Combat Arms Regiments. The 95th Battalion was awarded the battle honour The Great War 1916–17.


Legacy

The 95th Battalion, CEF, is perpetuated by The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada.
