motorized infantry brigade of the
Hellenic Army. Based in
Ioannina
Ioannina ( el, Ιωάννινα ' ), often called Yannena ( ' ) within Greece, is the capital and largest city of the Ioannina regional unit and of Epirus, an administrative region in north-western Greece. According to the 2011 census, the c ...
, it is one of the most historic units of the
Hellenic Army, tracing its ancestry to the
8th Infantry Division ( el, VIII Μεραρχία Πεζικού).
In a wide-ranging army reorganization in 2013, the division was reduced in size and converted into a
motorized infantry brigade.
