The 89th Infantry Regiment was activated piecemeal beginning in 1941, both stateside and overseas. Only Company A and the 3rd Battalion were ever active. Company A and Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) 3rd Battalion were activated on 2 January 1941 at
