McBride caught 90 passes for 1,121 yards throughout the 2021 season, leading all Division I FBS tight ends in receiving yards. Head coach Steve Addazio was ejected from the game after being called for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, becoming the first ever Colorado State head coach to be ejected from a game.
