Format

The top eight eligible men's basketball teams in the
Big South Conference The Big South Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I. Originally a non-football conference, the Big South began sponsoring football in 2002 as part of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Th ...
received a berth in the conference tournament. After the 18 game conference season, teams were seeded by conference record. The winner received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, and UNC Asheville received that bid in 2011 as they won the tournament. Presbyterian was not eligible to compete in the 2011 tournament due to reclassification.
