. The championship starts with a group stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. This was Dunderry's first year in this grade since 1990, after 15 years in the Senior grade since being relegated in 2005. On 15 October 2006, Rathkenny claimed their 2nd Intermediate championship title when they defeated Drumconrath 1-10 to 2-6, succeeding Duleek as Intermediate champions. Slane were relegated from this grade, after 7 years as an Intermediate club.
