General manager Bob Clarke left the team to return to the

, being named president and general manager of the Flyers on June 15. Since Clarke had to be released from his existing contract, the Panthers received the Flyers' 1994 second-round pick and cash, believed to be around $500,000, as compensation. Bryan Murray was named the team's new general manager on August 1.
