call-sign used by Borewicz. The show shared a number of similarities, and one complete storyline, with the comic book series '' Kapitan Żbik'' (''Captain Żbik''). The theme tune was written by Polish composer Wlodzimierz Korcz, who also scored the show. Later seasons also used additional themes, composed by Andrzej Korzyński. Despite being widely considered a work of propaganda aimed at warming the image of "Citizen's Militia", the series proved highly popular in Poland and even gained a cult following. Critics consider it "one of the biggest achievements of Polish crime drama" the "raw and realist response to Bond", and "the most popular Polish police series ever". In 2012, the screenplays used for the show were adapted as a series of e-books by director Krzysztof Szmagier.
