It was formerly known in Polish as the ''Łętownia'' , ''Lętownia'' , ''Łotownia'' , ''Łutownica'' , ''Latownica'' , ''Lutownia'' , and ''Szczekotówka'' River. The Łutownia flows through the European region known as the ''Wysoczyzny Podlasko – Bialoruskie'' (Podlasie-Belarus Plateau) in Poland's Podlasie Province and Belarus' Hrodna Voblast.
