Živko Čingo
Živko Čingo (also spelt Zhivko Chingo) (13 August 1935 – 11 August 1987) Macedonian writer, born in Velgosti, near Ohrid, Kingdom of Yugoslavia. Biography He studied literature at the University of Sts Cyril and Methodius in Skopje. He worked as a journalist and as Director of the Macedonian National Theatre. He was part of the new wave of writers to emerge on the Macedonian literary scene in the post- World War II period. One of his novels, ''Golemata Voda'' (''The Great Water''), has been translated into English. Skopje
Skopje ( , , ; mk, Скопје ; sq, Shkup) is the capital and largest city of North Macedonia. It is the country's political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. The territory of Skopje has been inhabited since at least 4000 BC; remains of Neolithic settlements have been found within the old Kale Fortress that overlooks the modern city centre. Originally a Paeonian city, Scupi became the capital of Dardania in the second century BC. On the eve of the 1st century AD, the settlement was seized by the Romans and became a military camp. The Great Water
''The Great Water'' ( mk, Γолемата вода, Latinic: Golemata voda) is a 2004 Macedonian film starring Saso Kekenovski, Maja Stankovska, Mitko Apostolovski, Meto Jovanovski and Verica Nedeska. It was directed and written by Ivo Trajkov. The music was created by Kiril Dzajkovski. Plot Based on a children's book written by Živko Čingo in the 1970s, the movie is about the difficult transition in Macedonia after World War II. The film begins in the present as old Lem (Meto Jovanovski), Macedonian politician who is experiencing a heart attack and while he is being wheeled into a hospital and examined and wired, he has memory flashbacks to his childhood in 1945. He is brought to the 'orphanage' where orphans are children of the enemies of the new regime. There he learns how to adjust to the role of obedient brainwashing.
