Škoda Auto Museum
Škoda Auto is one of just four automakers in the world which has an unbroken history stretching back over 100 years (1895). The Škoda Auto Museum is located in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, adjacent to a large production facility (tours of the factory can be arranged). The remodeled museum were opened in Autumn 2012. The museum is now divided into three divisions in separate spaces. In ''Evolution'' section are the most important products, from the first bicycle, motorcycle, tricycle, first car (1906) with performance of seven hp and other important products up to newest designs. There is also a racing car 720 Spider, 1100 OHC and Super-Sport Ferat. Division ''Tradition'' shows cars from different eras, brand participation in motorsport, logo development and personalities and events associated with the brand. Škoda Auto a.s. (), often shortened to Škoda, is a Czech automobile manufacturer established in 1925 as the successor to Laurin & Klement and headquartered in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. Mladá Boleslav
Mladá Boleslav (; german: Jungbunzlau) is a city in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 42,000 inhabitants. Mladá Boleslav is the second most populated city in the region and a major centre of the Czech automotive industry (Škoda Auto) and therefore the Czech industry as a whole. Penny-farthing
The penny-farthing, also known as a high wheel, high wheeler or ordinary, is an early type of bicycle. It was popular in the 1870s and 1880s, with its large front wheel providing high speeds (owing to its travelling a large distance for every rotation of the legs) and comfort (the large wheel provides greater shock absorption). It became obsolete in the late 1880s with the development of modern bicycles, which provided similar speed amplification via chain-driven gear trains and comfort through pneumatic tires, and were marketed in comparison to penny-farthings as "safety bicycles" because of the reduced danger of falling and the reduced height to fall from. The name came from the British penny and farthing coins, the former being much larger than the latter, so that the side view resembles a larger penny (the front wheel) leading a smaller farthing (the rear wheel). Techmania Science Center
Techmania Science Center is one of the first science centers in the Czech Republic and an important institution of informal education. The project was established in 2005 by the Škoda Transportation joint-stock company and the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The intention has been to build up a modern, interactive center (often known as a science center) in the industrial estate of the Škoda company. The mission of Techmania is to help the public, especially young people, to get more familiar with science, technology and with the development of human knowledge in general.
