This list attempts to include all plants which generate coal power in Turkey including autoproducers. All coal-fired power stations which sent power to the grid in 2020 are listed below. In 2018 there were 300 MW of unlicensed thermal power stations (a licence is not required if no power is sent to the grid) but it is not known whether any of them were coal-fired. Biga power station (also known as Bekirli-1 or İçdaş Çelik Enerji or İÇDAŞ Değirmencik and different from nearby İÇDAŞ Biga-2 but owned by the same company) is a 405 MW coal-fired power station in Turkey in Değirmencik, Biga, in Çanakkale built in the early 21st century. Climate TRACE (Tracking Real-Time Atmospheric Carbon Emissions) is an independent group which monitors and publishes greenhouse gas emissions within weeks. It launched in 2021 before COP26, and improves monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of both carbon dioxide and methane.
