Đỗ Hoàng Điềm
Do Hoang Diem (Đỗ Hoàng Điềm, also known as Diem Do) is the current chairman of pro-democracy Việt Tân. He is a prominent leader in the Vietnamese democracy movement. Early life and career Do Hoang Diem graduated from the University of Houston with an MBA degree. Following business school, he worked as an executive in diverse industries including banking, entertainment, health care and electronics. Diem became very active in the Vietnamese American community. He served on the Vietnamese Professionals Society's first Board of Directors from 1991 to 1992, was a radio and TV talk show host for Little Saigon Broadcasting and was also a member of the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Community of Southern California. The speaker of the United States House of Representatives, commonly known as the speaker of the House, is the presiding officer of the United States House of Representatives. Dr. Nguyen Quoc Quan ( vi, Nguyễn Quốc Quân, born November 20, 1953) is a Vietnamese-born American mathematics researcher and human rights activist and a member of the leadership committee of the anti-communist organization Viet Tan. He was detained on April 17, 2012, after arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. On April 28, 2012, Vietnam's state media reported the "pro-democracy activist" has been arrested and accused of organizing "terrorism" activities. Previously, Dr Quan was arrested in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on a trip on November 17, 2007, for preparing pro-democracy flyers. During that first trip, he brought in a Vietnamese translation of the book ''From Dictatorship to Democracy'' about nonviolent resistance. Hoàng Tứ Duy (also known as Duy "Dan" Hoang) is a Vietnamese-born American democracy activist. He is currently the executive director for Viet Tan, an unsanctioned pro-democracy political movement in Vietnam. Before becoming a full-time democracy activist, he worked as an investment banker for over 10 years. He has testified before US Congressional committees on human rights issues and written for the Wall Street Journal, Asia Times Online and leading Vietnamese-language publications. 2013 Conviction Of 14 Vietnamese Dissidents
On January 8–9, 2013 a trial was held by the People's Court of Nghệ An Province, Vietnam for 14 democracy activists, primarily belonging to the Catholic church, including high-profile blogger Paulus Le Son. All of them were sentenced to 3–13 years in prison on charges of subversion. Many human rights organizations have called this the "largest case of its kind" in Vietnam, and condemned the sentence.
