Đorđe Lavrnić
Đorđe "Đoko" Lavrnić (; 6 June 1946 – 27 November 2010) was a Yugoslav handball player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics. Club career After starting out at Slatina, Lavrnić played for Krivaja Zavidovići and Crvenka, before moving abroad to Germany. He spent three seasons with TuS Derschlag in the Handball-Bundesliga (1975–1978), finishing as the league's top scorer each year. Later on, Lavrnić would play for VfL Günzburg, before returning to Yugoslavia and joining Sloga Doboj. International career At international level, Lavrnić competed for Yugoslavia at the 1972 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal. Komić
Komić ( sr-cyr, Комић) is a village in the Udbina municipality in the Lika region of central Croatia. The 2011 population was 20. History Near the village once was the Fort Komić which was built by Kurjaković family in the 14th century. Nine elderly Serb civilians were massacred by the Croatian Army in the aftermath of Operation Storm in August 1995. Demographics The 1712–14 census of Lika and Krbava registered 349 inhabitants, out of whom 348 were Serbian Orthodox ("Vlach"), 1 were Catholic Bunjevci. The 1991 population was 153, 99% ethnic Serbs. Handball At The 1972 Summer Olympics
Handball at the 1972 Summer Olympics was the second appearance of the sport at the Olympics, returning to the Olympic program after a 36-year absence. The competition was for men only and it was contested by sixteen teams. The teams were split into four groups of four teams each. Each team played every other team in its group. The lowest team in group A played the lowest in group B while the lowest in groups C and D played each other. The winners of those games played each other for 13th and 14th places, while the losers played each other for 15th and 16th. The third-ranked teams in groups A and B also played each, as did those in groups C and D. Again, the winners of those games played each other, this time for 9th and 10th places. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end.
