Đorđe Genčić
Đorđe Genčić (; 16 November 1861 – 19 October 1938) was a Serbian and Yugoslav industrialist and politician. He served as the Mayor of Niš (1894-1899), Minister of Internal Affairs (1899-1900) and the Minister of National Economy (1903). He was a political leader of the May Coup which brought an end to the Obrenović dynasty. Biography Genčić was born in the village of Veliki Izvor near Zaječar in 1861 to a rich family. After finishing high school studies in Zaječar and Belgrade, he studied economics in Vienna and later he went to Russia after being invited by Mikhail Chernyayev to study military sciences. Mikhail Grigoryevich Chernyaev (Russian: Михаил Григорьевич Черняев) (3 November / 22 October 1828, Bender, Bessarabia Governorate – 16 August 1898) was a Russian major general, who, together with Konstantin Kaufman and Mikhail Skobelev, directed the Russian conquest of Central Asia during the reign of Tsar Alexander II. Life Mikhail Chernyaev was born in 1828 in Bender, in the Bessarabia Governorate of the Russian Empire. He belonged to a Russian noble family descended from Novgorodian boyars. His father was Grigory Nikitich Chernyaev (1787 – 1868), an officer, a participant of the Battle on Borodino. His father was a commandant of a number of French towns after the defeat of Napoleon. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town.
