Üçyol (İzmir Metro)
Üçyol is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in Konak. Located beneath İnönü Avenue, just west of Üçyol Square, it is one of the ten original stations of the metro system, opened on 22 May 2000. From 2000 to the 2012, Üçyol was the western terminus of the line. On 29 December 2012, the line was extended two stations westward to Hatay. Üçyol is planned to be the western terminus of the Üçyol—Çamlıkule Line, which is expected to open by 2022. İzmir Metro
İzmir Metro ( tr, İzmir Metrosu) is a metro system in İzmir, Turkey that is in the process of being extended with new stations being put in service. The current system, consisting of one line, starts from Fahrettin Altay station Göztepe in the southern portion of the metropolitan area and runs towards northeast to end at Evka-3 in Bornova. İzmir's metro line is long, and serves 17 stations as of 26 July 2014. Overview By 1990, it was thought that the existing public transport system in Izmir could no longer support the growing population. A plan was thought of to build a rapid transit network by rail to cope with this. A contract was signed in 1993, and the handover was in 1994. Construction had begun in 1995 and it was completed successfully in around 4 years. In May 2000, the system came into public service. Line M5, officially referred to as the M5 Üsküdar–Çekmeköy line ( tr, M5 Üsküdar–Çekmeköy metro hattı), is a rapid transit line of the Istanbul Metro System. Hatay (İzmir Metro)
Hatay is an underground station on the Fahrettin Altay—Evka 3 Line of the İzmir Metro in Hatay, Konak. Located under İnönü Avenue, it consists of two side platforms servicing two tracks. Connection to ESHOT bus service is available at street level. Hatay was opened on 29 December 2012, along with İzmirspor station, as part of a two station westward extension of the line and was the western terminus of the line from 2012 to 2014, when the line was extended one stop further to Goztepe. The opening marked the partial completion of the long-awaited extension to Fahrettin Altay Fahrettin Altay (12 January 1880 – 25 October 1974) was a Turkish military officer.
