Ülker is a Turkish multinational corporation, multinational food and beverage manufacturer based in Istanbul, Turkey. Its products are exported internationally, to 110 countries. Ülker's core products are biscuits, cookies, crackers, and chocolates, although it has expanded to other categories. Ülker received the "Candy Company of the Year in Europe" award from the European Candy Kettle Club in 2004. In December 2007, the company acquired Godiva Chocolatier from the Campbell Soup Company for $850 million. In 2016, Yıldız Holding transferred 51% of Ülker's shares to its new global business Pladis. History Ülker was founded in 1944 by Sabri Ülker, Sabri and Asim Ülker, two brothers whose parents immigrated to Turkey from Crimea, commencing operations in Istanbul as a small bakery. Sabri Ãœlker
Sabri Ülker (1920 – 12 June 2012) was a Turkish industrialist and businessman, and the founder of Ülker. Having spent his early childhood in Crimea, Sabri Ülker immigrated to İstanbul 1929 together with his family. Education Arriving in İstanbul at the age of 9, he started his education at Kadırga Elementary School. After the elementary school, he studied at İstanbul High School for a brief period. Upon winning the right to attend the public boarding school during his 2nd year at junior high, he went to Bilecik. He graduated from Bilecik Junior High School and then Kütahya High School.
