Øyvind Øyen
Øyvind Øyen (March 7, 1905 – December 23, 1993) was a Norwegian actor. Øyen was born in Trondheim, the son of the timber merchant Mikal Øien (1871–1922) and Amalie Rebekka Slåttelid (1878–1952). When Øyen was nine years old, his family moved to Kristiania (now Oslo). After graduating from high school in 1921, Øyen traveled to the United States, where he worked as an accountant in Chicago. In 1923, he received a bachelor's degree from California State University, and then worked for three years at the Norwegian Club in Chicago and at the same time performed in amateur theater. Øyen began his professional theater career in 1931 in the role of Napoleon in Johan Bojer's ''Maria Walewska'' at the National Theater in Bergen. He remained at that theater until 1933, after which he became a freelance actor with involvement at the Søilen Theater, among other venues. ''Godvakker-Maren'' (Good Pretty Maren) is a Norwegian comedy film from 1940 directed by Knut Hergel, who also wrote the film script together with Alf Sommer and Einar Tveito. The script is based on Oskar Braaten's novel ''Bak høkerens disk'' and play ''Godvakker-Maren''. The film premiered on October 31, 1940. Plot Two young girls from Hedmark get jobs at a grocery store run by Nils Andresen in Oslo. Andresen's wife is in bed with an illness, and Andresen is interested in his two young female employees. ''Brannen'' (The Fire) is a Norwegian film from 1973. The film is based on Tarjei Vesaas's novel ''Brannen''. Haakon Sandøy directed the film and Jan Grønli played the lead role. Unn Vibeke Hol played the girl in the film. Nils Vogt made his film debut in ''Brannen''. Plot The film is about a young boy that lives alone in a modern housing complex. He has a small room with a telephone that rings more or less constantly. When he picks up the phone, he only hears a busy signal. Eventually, he flees the apartment block in panic. The boy lets himself be led by different people that appear completely unexpectedly. He gets involved in a search team looking for a young girl. The film is based on a 1955 play by Axel Kielland, who also plays a minor character in the film. The play and the film is based on true events in Sweden. Plot Just after Sigurd Helmer (Claes Hill) is ordained a bishop, his archrival Tornkvist (Georg Løkkeberg) hands over a letter to the police claiming Helmer obtained his position through foul play. Plot In the 1920s, the unemployed architect Ernst accidentally enters a smuggling ring, and his gray and desolate existence is replaced by a lush, brazen, and colorful world. He is in love with Klara, but she leaves him. Jenny becomes his close friend. Together with Hugo and Elsa, the pair make several smuggling trips by car, with a large—but not sufficient—profit.
