Özel Türkbaş (September 1, 1938 – July 22, 2012) was a Turkish-born actress, model, singer and belly dancer, who helped popularize belly dancing in the US and recorded traditional music aimed at a western audience, including the successful 1969 album ''Bellydance with Özel Türkbaş: How to Make Your Husband a Sultan''. Life and career She was born in Manisa, Turkey, and moved to Ankara as a child; her mother was a professional dancer. She was a member of the State Children's Theatre in Ankara, before starting a singing career with her sister in Istanbul. During the 1950s, she worked as a model, and also starred in 14 films in Turkey including ''Gunah Koprusu'' in 1955, where she met Ayhan Türkbaş who became her husband. Feryal Özel (born May 27, 1975) is a Turkish-American astrophysicist born in Istanbul, Turkey, specializing in the physics of compact objects and high energy astrophysical phenomena. As of 2022, Özel is the Department Chair and a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology School of Physics in Atlanta. She was previously a professor at the University of Arizona in Tucson, in the Astronomy Department and Steward Observatory. İsmet Özel (born 19 September 1944, in Kayseri) is a Turkish poet and writer. Early years Özel is a son of a police officer from Söke. He attended primary and secondary school in Kastamonu, Çankırı and Ankara. He attended classes at Political Science Faculty of Ankara University, and graduated from the French Language department of Hacettepe University. Career Özel published ''Halkın Dostları'' magazine with Ataol Behramoğlu. Özel's songs of freedom derived its content from socialism but their structure and symbolism reflected the tastes of the Second New generation movement in Turkish poetry. General Necdet Özel (born 1950) is a Turkish Army general, who served as the 28th Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. He also served as the commander of the Turkish Land Forces. The Gendarmerie Special Public Security Command ( tr, Jandarma Özel Asayiş Komutanlığı) or shortly as JÖAK, is the tactical unit of the Gendarmerie General Command. It has several missions which include counter-terrorist actions, underwater operations, hostage rescue, riot control, and other high-threat criminal actions.
