Óscar Robles
Oscar Manuel Robles Arenas (born April 9, 1976) is a Mexican former professional baseball infielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Currently he is the manager for the Generales de Durango of the Mexican League and the Algodoneros de Guasave of the Mexican Pacific League. Career He spent much of the 2000s as a third baseman for the Mexico City Red Devils (Diablos Rojos del México), and played briefly as an infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers from May through . He graduated from Montgomery High School in San Diego, where he had his jersey retired as a pitcher, and set a then-record for San Diego Section career hits (143). He was originally signed by Houston Astros scout Deron Rombach after being drafted in the third round of the June free agent draft. The Mexican Pacific League (), known as Liga ARCO Mexicana del PacÃfico for sponsorship reasons or simply LMP for its acronym in Spanish, is a professional baseball winter league based in Northern Mexico. The ten-team regular season schedule runs from October to December and is followed by a playoff series in January to determine the league champion. The Algodoneros de Unión Laguna (English: Laguna Union Cotton Farmers) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League based in Torreón, Coahuila. History Early years The team was established in 1940 under the name Algodoneros de Unión Laguna, named for the CompañÃa Jabonera la Unión (Union Soap Company), the team's first sponsor. The Toros de Tijuana (or Tijuana Bulls) are a Mexican Baseball team based in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. They are members of the Mexican Baseball League and play their home games at Estadio Chevron. Team history Original Attempt The franchise was originally the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos before moving to Tijuana to become the Toros de Tijuana in 2004. In their debut season they qualified for the postseason where they faced and defeated the Sultanes de Monterrey. The Guerreros de Oaxaca (English: Oaxaca Warriors) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League based in Oaxaca City, Oaxaca, Mexico. Their home field is Estadio Eduardo Vasconcelos. History In October 1995, a group of businessmen, led by Alfredo Harp Helú, learned that the Charros de Jalisco were unable to continue participating in the league. These businessmen saw the opportunity to move the team from Guadalajara to the city of Oaxaca, and the project was officially presented at a meeting of directors of the Mexican League. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League (IL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies.
