Ñuflo De Chávez Province
Ñuflo de Chávez is one of the fifteen provinces of the Bolivian Santa Cruz Department and is situated in the northern central parts of the department. The name of the province honors the conquistador Ñuflo de Chaves (1518–1556) who founded the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Its capital is Concepción. The province was created by law of September 16, 1915, during the presidency of Ismael Montes. The Immaculate Conception Cathedral ( es, Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción) Also Concepción Cathedral Is the name that receives a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church that is located in the city of Concepción, Santa Cruz, Concepción in Santa Cruz Department (Bolivia), Santa Cruz Department, Bolivia. The complex includes the cathedral the bell tower and the parochial house that were built by the Jesuits between 1753 and 1756. It was declared a national monument of Bolivia in 1950 and a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1990. Administration The temple follows the Roman or Latin rite and is the main church of the Apostolic Vicariate of Ñuflo de Chávez (''Apostolicus Vicariatus Niuflensis'') that was created in 1951 through the bull "Ne sacri Pastores" of Pope Pius XII. Guarayos Province
Guarayos is a province in the northwestern parts of the Bolivian Santa Cruz Department. Location Guarayos is one of fifteen provinces in the Santa Cruz Department. It borders Beni Department in the north and northwest, Ichilo Province and Obispo Santistevan Province in the southwest, and Ñuflo de Chávez Province in the south and east. The Province is situated between 13° 58' and 16° 30' south, and 62° 29' and 64° 44' west, its extension from east to west is up to 320 km, from north to west circa 380 km. Population Part of the province is inhabited by an indigenous people, called Guarayos. The current indigenous inhabitants seem to have settled here beginning with the 16th century. San Javier, Ñuflo De Chávez
San Javier (San Francisco Xavier de los Piñocas or San Xavier) is the seat of San Javier Municipality in Ñuflo de Chávez Province, Santa Cruz Department, Bolivia. The mission of San Javier is known as part of the ''Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitos'', declared in 1990 a World Heritage Site, as a former Jesuit Reduction. History In 1691, the mission of San Francisco Xavier was founded by Jesuit missionary José de Arce. The mission hosted the Piñoca Indians. In 1696, due to the incursion of Paulistas from Brazil, the mission was relocated to the San Miguel River. It was relocated again in 1698, this time closer to Santa Cruz, due to another Paulista incursion. In 1708, Spanish from Santa Cruz captured many Indians, and the mission had to be relocated away from Santa Cruz. Languages The Piñoco dialect of Chiquitano, now extinct, was spoken in San Javier. Municipalities in Bolivia are administrative divisions of the entire national territory governed by local elections. Municipalities are the third level of administrative divisions, below departments and provinces. Some of the provinces consist of only one municipality. In these cases the municipalities are identical to the provinces they belong to. History of governance Municipalities in Bolivia are each led by a mayor, an executive office. Mayors were appointed by the national government from 1878 to 1942 and from 1949 to 1987. Local elections were held under the 1942 municipal code, which was in force until 1991.
