ÃŽle-de-France Tramway Line 11 Express
Tramway line T11 Express (known as the Tangentielle Nord and Tram Express Nord during the planning phase) is a suburban tram-train line in France. Route The line is planned to be long, from Sartrouville to Noisy-le-Sec, from the northwestern to the northeastern suburbs of Paris. It will have interchanges with existing SNCF Transilien train lines, trams, metro, and Réseau Express Régional (RER) lines A, B, C, D and E. There will be six new stations and eight interchange stations. Project The project, which was granted approval in May 2008, was planned by Syndicat des transports d'Île-de-France (STIF) but also jointly managed by SNCF and Réseau Ferré de France (RFF). The Réseau Express Régional ( en, Regional Express Network), commonly abbreviated RER (), is a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris and its ÃŽle-de-France, suburbs. It acts as a combined city-centre underground rail system and suburbs-to-city-centre commuter rail. In the city centre it acts much like the Paris Métro, though faster, having fewer stops. This has made it a model for proposals to improve transit within other cities. The network consists of five lines: RER A, A, RER B, B, RER C, C, RER D, D and RER E, E. The network has 257 stations and has interchanges with the Paris Métro, Métro and Transilien, commuter rail within the City of Paris and the suburbs. Grande Ceinture Ouest
The Grande ceinture Ouest line (French - ''Ligne Grande ceinture Ouest'', or GCO) is a 10 km long section of the Grande Ceinture de Paris, located in Yvelines and reopened to the public on 12 December 2004, after being closed to passengers for 68 years. Managed by the SNCF, it links Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Gare de Saint-Germain-en-Laye - Grande-Ceinture, gare de Grande-Ceinture) to Noisy-le-Roi, via Gare de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche-Forêt-de-Marly, Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche. The line is little used at the moment but nevertheless provides a window on the SNCF via the many innovative methods used on it. Paris' former Chemin de fer de Petite Ceinture ('small(er) belt railway'), also colloquially known as ''La Petite Ceinture'', was a circular railway built as a means to supply the city's fortification walls, and as a means of transporting merchandise and passengers between Paris' major rail-company stations. Beginning as two distinct 'Ceinture Syndicate' freight and 'Paris-Auteuil' passenger lines from 1851, these lines formed an arc that surrounded the northern two thirds of Paris, an arc that would become a full circle of rail around the capital when its third Ceinture Rive Gauche section was built in 1867.
