Éric Lapointe (Canadian Football)
Éric Lapointe (born September 13, 1974) is a retired Canadian football player. He was a running back with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League. Biography A native of Brossard, Quebec, Lapointe is an alumnus of Mount Allison University, where he played football for the Mount Allison Mounties. While playing at the university level, he was Canada's Rookie of the Year, a three-time All-Canadian, and a two-time Hec Crighton Trophy winner as Most Outstanding Player in Canada (1996 and 1998), for which he received special congratulations by the Legislature of Nova Scotia. He was also a rushing leader for the Atlantic conference and nationally. In 1996, he rushed 1,619 yards to break the record in Atlantic University Sport. In his four years of playing, he rushed 4,666 yards, just 29 yards short of the CIAU all-time career rushing record. Atlantic University Sport (AUS; french: Sport universitaire de l'Atlantique) is a regional membership association for universities in Atlantic Canada which assists in co-ordinating competition between their university level athletic programs and providing contact information, schedules, results, and releases about those programs and events to the public and the media. Mark Nohra (born October 23, 1973 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a former running back and fullback with the Canadian Football League's B.C. Lions. He attended the University of British Columbia and is 5 feet 11 inches tall and 228 lbs. He has spent 8 years in the CFL with 3 teams. He was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1997 (4th round, 28th overall) and signed by the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League in 1998. The Bills released him at the end of training camp and Nohra was signed by the Lions in September 1998. He played a combined 17 games from 1998–1999 with B.C. Canadian Football Hall Of Fame
The Canadian Football Hall of Fame (CFHOF) is a not-for-profit corporation, located in Hamilton, Ontario, that celebrates great achievements in Canadian football. It is maintained by the Canadian Football League (CFL). It includes displays about the CFL, Canadian university football and Canadian junior football history. The Hall previously had a main feature in the central portion of the museum where inducted members, each with a metal bust depicting their head, were displayed prior to the physical building being closed. There were also featured displays that highlight each CFL team's history, and an interactive Field goal kicking exhibit. The CFHOF is currently changing to a de-centralized model, which does not included a main museum building (see "Today" below). 93rd Grey Cup
The 93rd Grey Cup game was held on November 27, 2005, at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, between the Edmonton Eskimos and the Montreal Alouettes, to decide the winner of the 2005 season of the Canadian Football League. The Eskimos prevailed over the Alouettes in a 38–35 overtime victory. It was the first time in 44 years that a Grey Cup went into overtime (it would happen again in 2016 and 2021). It was also the first Grey Cup to be presented in high-definition television. Festivities The Grey Cup Parade was held the day before the game. Pamela Anderson served as Grand Marshal of the parade.
