Édgar Álvarez
Édgar or Edgard Anthony Álvarez Reyes (born 9 January 1980 in Puerto Cortés) is a Honduran former soccer player who last played for Platense in the Liga Nacional de Fútbol de Honduras. He could play anywhere on the right flank. Club career Club Atlético Peñarol Nicknamed ''El Mosky'' or ''El Jet Álvarez'' (The Jet Alvarez), he was linked to the Uruguayan club when he was 24. Uruguayan Peñarol was champion in 2003 after winning the Clausura finals against Nacional and hand coach Diego Aguirre. In that team unquestioned right side Honduran Edgar Alvarez was, who had come to the club after playing seven seasons at Deportivo Platense in his country. Estadio Olímpico Metropolitano is a multi-purpose stadium in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. It is currently used mostly for football matches and also has facilities for athletics. It has a capacity of 37,325. History It was built in 1997 for the sixth edition of the Central American Games held there. This stadium was built by Jerónimo Sandoval, mostly known by "Chombo Sandoval", he was the organizer of the 1997 Central American Olympic Games in San Pedro Sula, which caused many controversies. The 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the ninth edition of the Gold Cup, the soccer championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF), and was won by the United States over Mexico. It was contested in the United States from June 6 to 24, 2007. This competition was the third overall edition of the tournament without guests (for the first time since 1993) from other confederations. The 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the seventh edition of the Gold Cup, the association football championship of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). For the first time since 1993, the tournament was held in more than one country, with games played in both United States and Mexico. The games were played in Mexico City, Miami, and for the first time in a northern U.S. city, Foxborough. The format of the tournament stayed the same as in 2002: twelve teams were split into four groups of three, the top two teams in each group would advance to the quarter-finals.
