Éamonn Scallan (born 1971 in Castletown, County Wexford) is an Irish former hurler who played for his local club Ferns St Aidan's and at senior level for the Wexford county team in the 1990s and 2000s. Ferns St Aidan's is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland. The club was founded in 1886 and fields teams in hurling, Gaelic football and camogie. Overview Facilities Ferns St Aidan's has three full-sized adult pitches (one of which is the exact dimensions of Croke Park, and is regularly used by county teams for training) as well as a smaller, underage, pitch. The club also have a hurling wall for practice sessions, a clubhouse with four dressing rooms and a meeting room, two tennis courts and a walkway around the grounds. Séamus Murphy (Wexford Hurler)
Séamus Murphy (born 1950s in Rathnure, County Wexford) is an Irish former hurling manager and player. Career He played hurling for his local club Rathnure and at senior level for the Wexford county team in the 1970s and early 1980s. Coaching career He retired from playing and became a manager due to a shoulder injury received during practice for the 1979 Wexford county title. Physiotherapy and medical treatments were unsuccessful, and Rathnure asked him to coach the minor and juvenile teams in 1981. Both teams won titles in his first season as coach. While coaching Rathnure, Murphy also worked as a construction worker for Dublin company Collen Construction. Murphy was the coach for the Wexford under-21 team when they won titles in 2001 and 2002. He had hoped to become manager of the senior Wexford team in 2001 when Tony Dempsey stepped down, but he was not considered for the post. Hurling ( ga, iománaÃocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology.
