Angel "Chayanne" Martﾃｭnez Santiago (born February 17, 1964 in Ciales, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican politician and Senator. He has been a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico since 2008. Early years and studies Angel Martﾃｭnez Santiago was born on February 17, 1964, in Ciales, Puerto Rico. His parents are Marﾃｭa Santiago and Miguel Angel Martﾃｭnez. Martﾃｭnez approved 60 credits en route to a pre-medical degree in 1982. He graduated from Puerto Rico Junior College in 1986, certified as a radiologic technologist. In 2002, he obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from the American University of Puerto Rico, graduating magna cum laude. In 2005, he finished his master's degree in human resources from Caribbean University, graduating summa cum laude. Puerto Rico Senatorial District III, also known as the Senatorial District of Arecibo, is one of the eight senatorial districts of Puerto Rico. Rossana Lﾃｳpez Leﾃｳn (born March 6, 1969) is a Puerto Rican politician and public servant from the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). Lﾃｳpez was elected to the Senate of Puerto Rico in 2012. Before that, she served as Director of the Office of Affairs of the Elderly. Early years and studies Rossana Lﾃｳpez Leﾃｳn was born in San Juan on March 6, 1969, to Norberto Lﾃｳpez and Carmen Leﾃｳn. She is the fourth of five children. Lﾃｳpez grew up in Cayey. She served as class president during her junior high and high school years. She was also part of the honor roll during high school. Before entering college, Lﾃｳpez did missionary work in the Dominican Republic. Lﾃｳpez received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico at Cayey. The 2008 Puerto Rican general elections were held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 to elect the officials of the Government of Puerto Rico that would serve for the next four years, most notably the Governor of Puerto Rico. The election was won by incumbent Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico Luis Fortuﾃｱo (from the New Progressive Party), who defeated the incumbent Governor, Anﾃｭbal Acevedo Vilﾃ｡ (from the Popular Democratic Party). Fortuﾃｱo received 1,025,965 votes, and Acevedo Vilﾃ｡ 801,071. Also, most of the other positions were won by the candidates of the New Progressive Party, who ended up with a majority of seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives. The 2008 New Progressive Party primaries were the primary elections by which voters of the New Progressive Party (PNP) chose its nominees for various political offices of Puerto Rico, namely the position of governor, for the 2008 general elections.
