Blues Traveler
Blues Traveler (formerly known as "The Establishment" or "The Black Cat Jam" or "The Establishment Blues Band") is an American rock band that formed in Princeton, New Jersey in 1987. They are known for extensive use of segues in live performances, and were considered a key part of the re-emerging jam band scene of the 1990s, spearheading the H.O.R.D.E. touring music festival. Currently, the group comprises singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. Tad Kinchla and Ben Wilson joined the band following the death of original bassist Bobby Sheehan in 1999. Cover Yourself
''Cover Yourself'' is Blues Traveler's ninth album. It contains previously released songs reworked with acoustic instrumentation and, for some songs, different arrangements from the originals. History As early as 1998, Blues Traveler expressed a desire to release an acoustic album. During writing sessions for the follow-up to their previous album, ''¡Bastardos!'', the band decided to revisit older material as they were approaching their twentieth anniversary. Fans were asked for input in the song selection through the band's official website in early 2007. At the band's annual Independence Day concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in 2007, twenty flash drives were randomly distributed throughout the venue. Each included two songs from the upcoming album. Jay Walter Bennett (November 15, 1963 – May 24, 2009) was an American multi-instrumentalist, engineer, producer, and singer-songwriter, best known as a member of the band Wilco from 1994 to 2001. Biography Early life and work with Wilco Jay Bennett was born November 15, 1963, in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, a suburb northwest of Chicago. Bennett was a founding member of Titanic Love Affair. The band recorded three albums in the 1990s: ''Titanic Love Affair'' (1991), ''No Charisma'' (EP, 1992), and ''Their Titanic Majesty's Request'' (1996). He also played guitar with Steve Pride and His Blood Kin and Gator Alley. Carlos Sosa (musician)
Carlos Sosa is an American musician, producer, composer, music director, and arranger. Heavily influenced by the R&B and funk sounds of the 1970s, Sosa founded Grooveline Horns in 1996, and is best known for touring and recording with Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, Jason Mraz, Zac Brown Band, and Hanson. Early influences and career Sosa started playing saxophone around the age of 10. When he was 15, he joined a funk band and started playing clubs in Texas. Heavily influenced by Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown and Parliament-Funkadelic, he knew his musical preferences leaned heavily towards funk, R&B, soul and pop music. Wilco is an American alternative rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1994 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure. Jam Band
A jam band is a musical group whose concerts (and live albums) are characterized by lengthy improvisational "jams."
