Loona yyxy (commonly stylized as LOONA yyxy or LOOΠΔ yyxy, abbreviation for ''Youth youth by young'') is the third sub-unit of the South Korean girl group Loona, formed through a pre-debut project titled ''"Girl of the Month"''. The unit consisted of 4 members, Yves, Go Won, Chuu and Olivia Hye. Currently the unit consists in 3 members, without Chuu, who was removed from Loona and consequently the lineup in November 2022. They debuted with their first extended play titled Beauty & the Beat on May 30, 2018. They were the last sub-unit to debut with the pre-debut project, before the group debuted as a whole with their extended play titled '' +'. Loona (commonly stylized in all caps or as LOOΠΔ; ; ja, 今月の少女, Kongetsu no Shōjo, Girl of the Month) is a South Korean girl group formed by Blockberry Creative. The group was introduced to the public through a pre-debut project that began in October 2016, where each of the 12 members was revealed in a periodic fashion by releasing a promotional single over the following 18 months. They debuted as a full ensemble with the extended play, ''+ +, [+ +]'' (2018), supported by the lead single "Favorite (Loona song), Favorite" and the title track "Hi High". In November 2022, Chuu was removed from the line-up. Name Loona's English name is derived from the Hangul letters ㅇㄷㅇㅅㄴ, each an Hangul#Letter placement within a block, initial consonant in the Syllable, syllabic blocks that make (''Idarui Sonyeo''). Beauty & The Beat (EP)
''Beauty & the Beat'' (stylized as beauty&thebeat) is the debut extended play by Loona yyxy, a sub-unit of South Korean girl group Loona. It was released on May 30, 2018, by Blockberry Creative. The album consists of five tracks and features Canadian singer Grimes. The unit consisted of four members: Yves, Chuu, Go Won, and Olivia Hye. In November 2022, Chuu was removed from the girl group Loona and consequently from the unit. Promotion and release The group began teasing the album on May 10, 2018, and continued releasing photos of the group and individual members, along with image teasers of each track, during the following weeks. Kim Ji-woo (; born October 20, 1999), known professionally as Chuu (), is a South Korean singer and television personality. She is a former member of the girl group Loona and its sub-unit, yyxy. Early life Chuu was born on October 20, 1999, in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, South Korea. She is the eldest of three children, with two younger brothers. For her audition she sang "Halo" by Beyoncé. Her stage name "Chuu" is derived from saying her given name quickly. She graduated from Cheongju's Saet-byul Elementary school () and San-nam Middle school (). Blockberry Creative (Hangul: 블록베리크리에이티브) is a South Korean record label formed in 2016. It is a subsidiary of Polaris Entertainment. The label is home to the girl group Loona and soloist Sunye. History Blockberry Creative was officially established on March 22, 2016, as a subsidiary label of Polaris Entertainment. On October 2, 2016, Blockberry Creative launched their first girl group project, Loona (; lit ''Girl of the Month''), which was expected to run for 18 months. It officially introduces member Chuu and contains two tracks, Chuu's solo "Heart Attack" and "Girl's Talk", a duet with previous member Yves.
