Yanthungo Patton, also known as Y. Patton, is an Indian politician from Nagaland and the first and current Deputy Chief Minister (as a Home Minister) of the Indian state of Nagaland serving in the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, NDPP-Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP administration. He is the Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP MLA from Tyüi (Vidhan Sabha constituency), Tyüi Assembly Constituency and was Home Minister in the Nagaland People's Front, NPF-led Government of Nagaland, government. On the 2021 Nagaland killings, Patton as the deputy CM of Nagaland tweeted,Oting's (Mon) disturbing and tragic incident in which civilians were killed will be thoroughly investigated and justice will be served. 2021 Nagaland Killings
On 4 December 2021, a unit of 21st Para Special Forces of the Indian Army killed six civilians near the village of Oting in the Mon District of Nagaland, India. Eight more civilians and a soldier were killed in subsequent violence. The killings were widely condemned with many calling to repeal and revoke the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) is a regional political party in the Indian state of Nagaland. Chingwang Konyak is the president of NDPP. The symbol of the party is a globe. The NDPP was formed by Naga People's Front rebels who supported former Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio, and split to form the Democratic Progressive Party. In October 2017, the DPP changed its name to "Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party". In January 2018, former Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio joined the party after the Naga People's Front broke its ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2018 Nagaland Legislative Assembly election.
