XIT (band)
XIT (Crossing of Indian Tribes) is a Native American rock band that released two albums in the 1970s on the Rare Earth label. The band had previously released an LP as "Lincoln Street Exit" on the Mainstream label in early 1970. They also released many later albums in the 2000's. History XIT, originally based in Albuquerque, New Mexico was founded by A. Michael Martinez (singer and lead guitar on ''Plight''), Mac Suazo (narrator and bass on ''Plight''), Lee Herrerra (drums on ''Plight''), and R. C. Gariss (2nd lead guitar on ''Plight''). The most recent members of XIT were, Willie Bluehouse Johnson (Lead guitar) P.J. West (Drums, percussion to include timpani), Louie Running Wolf (bass guitar) and Jim Boyd (lead guitar). Original Xit has released 6 CDs since 2006, "eXit From the REZ" (2006), "No eXit" (2007), "eXit nOw" (2008), "neXt eXit" (2009), "The Red Album" (2010) and "Forty Years" (2011). Consortium (band)
West Coast Consortium, or simply Consortium, were a British psychedelic pop group which recorded for Pye Records between 1967 and 1970. They were best known for the single "All the Love in the World". History The band was originally formed as Group 66, consisting of Robbie Fair (also named Robbie Leggat, lead vocals), Geoff Simpson (lead guitar, backing vocals), Brian Bronson (rhythm guitar), John Barker (bass), and John Podbury (drums). The started out doing covers, but later started to write their own songs. They became a harmony-singing group in the mould of The Beach Boys and The Four Seasons. They were first renamed XIT, and after they were signed to Pye Records, they changed the name again to West Coast Consortium. XIT Ranch
The XIT Ranch was a cattle ranch in the Texas Panhandle which operated from 1885 to 1912. Comprising over 3,000,000 acres (12,000 km²) of land, it ran for 200 miles (300 km) along the border with New Mexico, varying in width from 20 to 30 miles (30 to 50 km). The massive ranch stretched through ten counties in Texas and at its peak regularly handled 150,000 head of cattle. History The XIT ranch was located in the western edge of the Texas Panhandle. This was anciently the territory of the Querecho Indians and Teyas Indians, Teyas. In 1879, the 16th Texas Legislature appropriated 3,000,000 acres (12,000 km²) of land to finance a new state capitol. In 1882, in a special legislative session, the 17th Texas Legislature struck a bargain with Charles B. Farwell, Charles B. and John V.
