WQCP (91.1 MHz) is a non-commercial FM radio station broadcasting a classical music radio format. It is licensed to Fort Pierce, Florida, and serves the Treasure Coast. It is part of IRSC Public Media, a division of Indian River State College, alongside two other stations: WQCS 88.9 FM in Fort Pierce and WQJS 88.5 FM in Clewiston. History Black Media Works, Inc., launched this station as WJFP on January 15, 1995. Under Black Media Works, the station broadcast urban gospel music in the mornings and midday, with hip hop, R&B and urban contemporary music in the afternoons through late night. There was also a Sunday night block of specialty programs for the region's Haitian community. Licensed to Fort Pierce, it is owned by Indian River State College, with studios in building Q of the college's main campus in Fort Pierce. The station signed on in March 1982, originally at 88.3 FM, and operating at 3,000 watts from the McAlpin Fine Arts Center. The Treasure Coast is a region of the U.S. state of Florida. It is located on Florida's East Coast, bordering the Atlantic Ocean and comprising Indian River, Martin, and St. Lucie counties. WLLY-FM (99.5 FM, "La Ley") is a commercial radio station licensed to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and serving the Greater West Palm Beach area. The station's format is Regional Mexican. History WLLY-FM launched as WAFC-FM 106.3 in Clewiston, Florida, on July 2, 1979. It was owned by Tri-County Stereo and broadcast a modern country format. WAFC-FM moved to 99.5 MHz and upgraded to a Class C3 station in 2001. It then moved to Palm Beach Gardens and downgraded back to Class A in 2009, allowing it to enter the West Palm Beach radio market. "We Are the World" is a charity single originally recorded by the supergroup USA for Africa in 1985. It was written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie and produced by Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian for the album ''We Are the World''. With sales in excess of 20 million copies, it is the eighth- bestselling physical single of all time. Soon after the UK-based group Band Aid released "Do They Know It's Christmas?" in December 1984, the musician and activist Harry Belafonte began to think about an American benefit single for African famine relief. He enlisted fundraiser Ken Kragen to help bring the vision to reality. Urban Contemporary
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music.
