James Healey Willan (12 October 1880 – 16 February 1968) was an Anglo-Canadian organist and composer. He composed more than 800 works including operas, symphonies, chamber music, a concerto, and pieces for band, orchestra, organ, and piano. He is best known for his church music. Biography Willan was born in England on 12 October 1880 and began musical training at age eight, with studies at St. Saviour's Choir School in Eastbourne. He continued at St. Saviour's until 1895, when he began working as organist and choirmaster at several London-area churches. He earned, by examination in organ playing, harmony, counterpoint, history and orchestration, the ARCO in 1897 and fellowship in 1899. Frank Willan (8 February 1846 – 22 March 1931) was an English rower and Militia officer who rowed for Oxford in four winning Boat Race crews and umpired the race between 1889 and 1902. He was also a yachtsman and one of the founders of the Royal Yachting Association, an alderman, a Deputy Lieutenant for Hampshire, an early motorist, and a military historian. Jason Willan is a retired American soccer player who played professionally in the USL A-League and the National Professional Soccer League. He was the 1996 NPSL Rookie of the Year. Willan graduated from Franklin High School. Growing up, he played for the Milwaukee Sport Club and Croatian Eagles. Brigadier Robert Hugh Willan, (6 September 1882 – 4 May 1960) was an officer in the British Army. Willan was a lieutenant in the 4th (Militia) Battalion of the Oxfordshire Light Infantry when he received a commission as second lieutenant in The King's Royal Rifle Corps on 7 May 1902. He served in the First World War and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) in 1916 and the Military Cross (MC). He was Commander of the 10th Infantry Brigade, 1934–38 and concurrently Aide-de-camp to Kings George V, Edward VIII and George VI. He married Violet Crabbe, daughter of Brigadier General Eyre Crabbe. Willan Saddle (Sedlovina Willan \se-dlo-vi-'na 'wi-l&n\) is a flat, crescent-shaped and ice-covered saddle extending 1 km in the northeast–southwest direction between Burdick South Peak and Willan Nunatak in eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. The saddle has an elevation of 400 m and is part of the overland route between Balkan Snowfield and CharrĂşa Gap in the west and Orpheus Gate in the east, thus providing access from the Bulgarian Base and the Spanish Base to the interior of eastern Livingston Island. Willan Nunatak is an ice-free tipped peak rising to 449 m on the glacial divide between Huntress Glacier and Balkan Snowfield on Hurd Peninsula in eastern Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It is linked to Burdick South Peak to the northeast by Willan Saddle and, via Castillo Nunatak and CharrĂşa Gap, to CharrĂşa Ridge to the west. The nunatak is named after the British geologist Robert Charles Richard Willan (b. 1952) who has carried out field work in the area.
