Vyshyvanka ( uk, вишива́нка or ; be, вышыванка, vyšyvánka) is a casual name for the embroidered shirt in Ukrainian and Belarusian national costumes. Ukrainian vyshyvanka is distinguished by local embroidery features specific to Ukrainian embroidery. Etymology The word "vyshyvanka" itself is from вишива́ти (vyšyváti, "to embroider") and -а́нка (-ánka), which means "something that is embroidered". In English translations of Ukrainian texts, the word "vyshyvanka" is a loanword. Vita Kin ( uk, Віта Кін; born 25 November 1969) is a Ukrainian fashion designer. She is the founder of the Vita Kin brand. Biography Kin was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. Made of linen or cotton it usually represents woven or embroidered designs, symbols and cryptograms of the ancient world.
