''un love'' is the third album from Canadian indie folk band, Reuben and the Dark. The album was released barely 18 months after its predecessor, ''Arms of a Dream''. Besides being described as indie rock and folk-rock, some reviewers began describing the band as alternative rock. Background The album was demoed in Mexico with Reuben Bullock, bassist Ian Jarvis, guitarist Brock Geiger and Christopher Hayden as the producer. Bullock had gone to Mexico after touring the 2018 album ''Arms of a Dream'' and after separating from his wife. He said about the album; "Me and my wife separated and I’ve been in that process of trying to understand our relationship and change our understanding of love. That has had a really deep effect on me and that’s at the heart of all these songs, me trying to understand love to be really blunt about it." Folk Rock
Folk rock is a hybrid music genre that combines the elements of folk and rock music, which arose in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom in the mid-1960s. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". Marcus Paquin
Silver Starling is a Canadian indie pop band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Biography Silver Starling began as a project of Montreal-born singer-songwriter Marcus Paquin. Outside of creating his own music Marcus has been a recording engineer having worked with Torngat, Arcade Fire and The National. Paquin met drummer Liam O'Neill after seeing him perform at a free jazz show and the two soon began performing the songs together. Marika Anthony-Shaw joined the band, adding violin, viola and keyboards. Peter X was soon added on bass guitar and banjo. The then four-piece recorded their self-titled debut album and added Gabriel Lambert as an additional guitarist. The album was released on Last Gang Records in October 2009. Kevin Drew
Kevin Drew (born September 9, 1976) is a Canadian musician and songwriter who, together with Brendan Canning, founded the expansive Toronto baroque-pop collective Broken Social Scene. He was also part of the lesser-known KC Accidental, which consisted of Drew and Charles Spearin, another current member of Broken Social Scene. Drew has shared in the direction of Broken Social Scene videos under the name Experimental Parachute Movement. In 2008 he wrote and directed a short film called "The Water," inspired by and starring his bandmate and former girlfriend Leslie Feist. In 2009, Drew contributed to the AIDS benefit album Dark Was the Night produced by the Red Hot Organization. ''Arms of a Dream'' is the second album by Canadian indie folk band, Reuben and the Dark. Four years separate this album and its predecessor ('' Funeral Sky''), which Reuben Bullock, the band's singer and guitarist, attributed to over-complicating the recording process. The album title is borrowed from a poem that singer/guitarist Reuben Bullock had written previous to the recording of the album.
