The Vandals
The Vandals are an American punk rock band, established in 1980 in Orange County, California. They have released ten full-length studio albums, two live albums, and have toured the world extensively, including performances on the Vans Warped Tour. They are well known for their use of humor, preferring to use their music as a vehicle for comedy and sarcasm rather than as a platform for more serious issues. As of 2000, they are signed to Kung Fu Records. The band's lineup fluctuated significantly over their first nine years, though founding members Steven Ronald Jensen, guitarist Jan Nils Ackermann, and first consistent drummer Joe Escalante remained regular fixtures. Of the early members, only Escalante has remained through all subsequent incarnations of the band. The current lineup of Escalante, Dave Quackenbush, Warren Fitzgerald, and Josh Freese has remained intact since 1990 and is generally considered far removed from the band's early 1980s incarnation. Steve Pfauter
Steve Pfauter ("Human") (born November 7, 1963, in San Francisco, California, died June 12, 2022) was an American musician and set dresser and former bass guitarist for the punk rock band The Vandals, from 1980 until 1984. Biography Steve Pfauter was born to German immigrants and attended Los Alamitos High. He joined The Vandals in 1980 and played bass guitar on their debut EP, ''Peace thru Vandalism''. Steve Human (A.K.A. Human T-shirt, Humann) designed T-shirts for T.S.O.L. and also did art work for the Dead Kennedys. He also played bass in the original Los Angeles punk rock band Detox, making two full-length albums which featured six songs he wrote while touring the US and Canada. Later he joined Ken All Night Rocker. Human also roadied for T.S.O.L. on their first two nationwide tours in 1980-1982. ''Peace thru Vandalism'' is the debut EP by the American punk rock band The Vandals, released in 1982 by Epitaph Records. It was one of the first releases to be put out by the Epitaph label, founded in 1981 by Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion. The EP was later released in 1989 on Restless Records featuring the original authorship of the songs as a Vinyl, 12", EP, 33⅓ RPM, Reissue as well as The EP being re-released by Time Bomb Recordings in 1989 as a CD that also included the band's first LP, ''When in Rome Do as the Vandals''. The CD release is titled ''Peace Thru Vandalism / When in Rome Do as The Vandals''. The EP introduced the band's style of fast punk rock with humorous, tongue-in-cheek lyrics and subject matter. Brett W. Gurewitz (born May 12, 1962), nicknamed Mr. Brett, is an American musician best known as the lead guitarist of Bad Religion. He is also the owner of the music label Epitaph Records and a number of sister labels. He has produced albums for Bad Religion as well as Epitaph Records labelmates NOFX, Rancid, and Pennywise, among others. Gurewitz also had a project called Error, which also featured Atticus Ross, Leopold Ross, and Greg Puciato. He is also the co-founder of comic book and graphic novel publisher, Black Mask Studios. Gurewitz founded Bad Religion in 1980 with Greg Graffin, Jay Bentley and Jay Ziskrout. The Vandals were a Germanic people who first inhabited what is now southern Poland. They established Vandal kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula, Mediterranean islands, and North Africa in the fifth century.
