The Twilight Singers
The Twilight Singers are an United States, American indie rock musical group, band. The group was formed in 1997 by Greg Dulli as a side project during a hiatus from his group The Afghan Whigs. After the Afghan Whigs disbanded, Dulli used The Twilight Singers as his own artistic vehicle, and has now released five studio albums backed by worldwide tours. History Demos era While in-between Afghan Whigs albums and amidst a dispute with their record label, Elektra Records, Dulli recorded demos for the act with friends and collaborators Shawn Smith (musician), Shawn Smith (Brad (band), Brad, Satchel (band), Satchel, Pigeonhed) and Happy Chichester, Harold "Happy" Chichester (Royal Crescent Mob, Howlin' Maggie) at Kingsway Studio with producer engineer Ryan Hadlock in New Orleans. Ted Demme
Edward Kern Demme ( ; October 26, 1963 – January 13, 2002) was an American director, producer, and actor. Early life Demme was born in New York City, the son of Gail (née Kern) and Frederick Rogers Demme. He grew up in Rockville Centre, New York on Long Island and attended South Side Senior High School. He graduated from SUNY-Cortland in 1985. He was the nephew of film producer and director Jonathan Demme. Career Demme's media career may have begun with a radio show at WSUC-FM (SUNY-Cortland), a mix of comedy and talk radio with the usual sidekick, as well as some music and was widely listened to on and off campus. ''Amber Headlights'' is an album by Greg Dulli, released in 2005. Production In 2001, Dulli started to work on the follow-up to The Twilight Singers' debut album ''Twilight as Played by The Twilight Singers''. However, the death of his close friend Ted Demme in January 2002 led him to decide to start a new project in tribute to Demme that would eventually become ''Blackberry Belle''. The song "Cigarettes" became "Follow You Down" on ''Blackberry Belle''. Three years later, Dulli decided to release the songs on his own label, Infernal Recordings. Critical reception ''Amber Headlights'' was met with "mixed or average" reviews from critics. ''1965'' is the sixth studio album by American rock band The Afghan Whigs. It was released on October 27, 1998, by Columbia Records. Writing and recording The album was written and recorded after Greg Dulli, the band's lead singer and rhythm guitarist, underwent treatment for clinical depression. The Afghan Whigs recorded primarily at Daniel Lanois' Kingsway Studios in New Orleans, with additional recording done at Ocean Way and Larrabee North in Los Angeles, The American Sector in New Orleans, and London Bridge in Seattle. Dulli produced the album and wrote most of its songs. For the cover, a photograph was used showing astronaut Ed White on the first American space walk as part of the Gemini 4 flight which took place in June 1965. Howlin' Maggie was a four-piece band founded by (and fronted by) Harold "Happy" Chichester in Columbus, Ohio, in 1994. Chichester was previously the bassist for Royal Crescent Mob, and is also a founding member of The Twilight Singers with Greg Dulli of The Afghan Whigs. The band's debut album, ''Honeysuckle Strange'', was released on Columbia Records in 1996 to critical praise. Chichester commands most of the album credits, racking up vocals, keyboards, guitars, and producer duties. Royal Crescent Mob was an American four-piece punk funk/funk rock band from Columbus, Ohio, United States, formed in 1985. Also known to their fans as the R.C. Mob, the band members included Brian "B" Emch (guitar), David Ellison (vocals, harmonica), Harold "Happy" Chichester (bass, vocals) and after an early revolving door of drummers, Carlton Smith (drums). After garnering considerable college radio airplay in the 1980s, the band was signed to Sire Records, a Warner Bros. Records subsidiary. Harold "Happy" Chichester is an American singer-songwriter and musician. Early life, education and personal life Chichester resides in the Columbus, Ohio, area, where he began making music in 1986. Career Royal Crescent Mob Happy's first band of note was the 1980s rock/funk group the Royal Crescent Mob in which he played bass. Formed in 1985, the Royal Crescent Mob were renowned for their live performances. They signed a major label deal with Sire Records and released six albums. They toured with The Replacements, The B-52's and others and were once featured in ''Seventeen'' magazine. After nine years with the band, Happy left to pursue a solo career.
