The Sensations (Jamaica)
The Sensations were a Jamaican vocal group which performed backing on many of the reggae hits of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Membership was fluid but centred on the original members Jimmy Riley, Cornel Campbell, Buster Riley and Aaron "Bobby" Davis. They released "Just One Smile "Just One Smile" is a pop song written by Randy Newman in 1960. An early version was recorded by Gene Pitney in 1965. It appeared on his 1965 album, ''I Must Be Seeing Things'', and AllMusic noted that it "allowed Pitney to explore the extent o ..." as a single in 1969. Cornel Campbell
Cornel Campbell aka Don Cornel or Don Gorgon (born 23 November 1945 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a reggae singer, best known for his trademark falsetto voice, and his recordings at Studio One in the late 1960s and his later work with Bunny Lee in the 1970s. Biography Campbell has one of Jamaican music's distinctive falsettos. His first name was mistakenly spelled with two L's on a record and has been commonly misquoted since. He prefers the correct spelling: Cornel Campbell. Campbell's singing career began in his local church choir. Omnibus Press is a publisher of music-related books. It publishes around 30 new titles a year to add to a backlist of over 250 titles currently in print. History Omnibus Press was launched in 1972 as a general non-fiction publisher to complement the sheet music published and distributed by its parent company Music Sales Group. Just One Smile
"Just One Smile" is a pop song written by Randy Newman in 1960. An early version was recorded by Gene Pitney in 1965. It appeared on his 1965 album, ''I Must Be Seeing Things'', and AllMusic noted that it "allowed Pitney to explore the extent of his dramatic range with its tale of the giddy highs and painful lows of a love affair". The song became a Top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart, although it failed to register in the Top 50 of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at number 64. "Just One Smile" was Pitney's seventh consecutive Top Ten hit single in the UK. "Just One Smile" was covered by Blood, Sweat & Tears on their 1968 album, ''Child Is Father to the Man''. That version was just one of a number of covers of the song, which have been recorded by Dusty Springfield, Eternity's Children, Walter Jackson, Sheena Easton, and the Sensations, amongst others.
