The Misfits (band)
The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, and drummer Manny Martínez. Jerry Only joined on bass guitar shortly after. Over the next six years, membership would change frequently with Danzig and Only remaining the two sole consistent members. During this time period, they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums '' Walk Among Us'' (1982) and '' Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood'' (1983), both considered to have significance to the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The band has gone through many lineup changes over the years, with bassist Jerry Only being the only constant member in the group. Graves (band)
Graves is an American horror punk band formed in 2000 by Michale Graves and Dr. Chud after they left the Misfits. Graves recorded and released one album, ''Web of Dharma'', that was produced by Dr. Chud. Recordings The band also recorded a demo before ''Web of Dharma'', which was never officially released. Demos for ''Web Of Dharma'' were recorded in November 2001. These recordings were produced by Ron Gouldie at June 3 Studios in Los Angeles. The recording sessions for ''Web of Dharma'' occurred in April 2002 at Spin Studios in Long Island, New York. Overdubbing sessions and final mixing took place in the "Creepy Attic", Dr. Chud's home studio. A special limited edition of this album was sold at the record release party. The number of copies pressed is still unknown. Seemingly the only difference between the limited edition and the regular edition, is the artwork on the CD itself. Michale Graves
Michael Emanuel (born March 21, 1975), better known by his stage name Michale Graves, is an American singer. He is best known as the lead vocalist for the 1990s re-incarnation of the horror punk band Misfits from 1995 to 2000, leaving briefly in 1998. Graves grew up in Dumont, New Jersey. He has also released several albums as a solo artist. Life and career Misfits Graves was recording a demo with his band the Mopes in Lodi, New Jersey, when their engineer, Bob Alecca, mentioned that the Misfits were reforming and holding auditions for a new singer. Graves bought the '' Collection I'' and ''Walk Among Us'' albums to familiarize himself with the band and became an official member about a year after trying out. Robo (musician)
Julio Roberto Valverde Valencia (born 1955), better known by his stage name Robo, is a Colombian-American drummer. He came to prominence in the early 1980s with punk band Black Flag, and more recently has been a member of Misfits. Life and career Robo (at the time known by his birth name, Roberto Valverde), was a Colombian army defector, born in Cali, who came to the United States on a student visa in early 1975. He stayed after the visa expired. Robo began playing drums in 1976, while living in El Segundo, California and working in a plastics factory. In 1978, he joined Black Flag as the band's second drummer, replacing Brian Migdol. He toured and recorded with them through 1981, performing on the EPs ''Jealous Again'' and '' Six Pack'', and their first full-length album, '' Damaged''. Arthur Googy
Arthur Googy is an American percussionist known for being the drummer of horror punk band The Misfits from 1980 to 1982. Originally from Jackson Heights, New York, he attended Blessed Sacrament elementary school followed by a brisk visit to Newtown High.. Googy was the longest-running drummer of the band's original era, spanning the years 1980 - 1982, and was present during the "Master Sound Productions Sessions" that led to the Walk Among Us album. He would tour with the band in several infamous shows, many of which ended up on highly sought-after bootlegs. His contributions include the albums ''Walk Among Us'', ''Evilive'' and '' 3 Hits from Hell''. His work is also prevalent in Collection I and Collection II, as well as the drummer for tracks 9, 12 and 13 on the album Legacy of Brutality. Joey Image
Joey Poole (March 5, 1957 – June 1, 2020), known professionally as Joey Image, was an American punk rock drummer. He joined the Misfits in November 1978. He was the drummer for both the "Horror Business" and "Night of the Living Dead" sessions of 1979. In December 1979, after the band's ill-fated tour of England with the Damned, he left the band. After the Misfits, he was the drummer for the Whorelords. His most recent bands were Human Buffet, Psycho Daisies, the Mary Tyler Whores, the Strap-Ons, the Bell Ringers, Evil Doers, the Hooples, Jersey Trash, the Hollywood 77's, and between 2000 and 2002 he was the drummer for the Undead. He also played for the Misfits on October 26, 2000, at Culture Room, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, one day after Dr. Chud had left the band along with Michale Graves. Bobby Steele
Bobby Steele (born Robert Charles Kaufhold on March 18, 1956) is an American punk rock musician. He is the current guitar player, songwriter, and sole original member of the punk band The Undead. He has been a member of multiple other bands, most notably, as the second guitarist of The Misfits. He was replaced by Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein. He married Diana Viar who joined The Undead in November 2014. They are both in the band RIP which started in 2013. Career Steele grew up in New Milford, New Jersey and lived there until 1978 when he moved into Manhattan. The house he had lived in later became the base for Post Mortem records, a label he founded. Steele was the guitarist for Parrotox, Slash, and The Whorelords before joining The Misfits in 1978. Franché Coma
Franché Coma (born Frank Licata August 17, 1957), is an American musician. He is the original guitarist of the Misfits. Coma joined The Misfits in the fall of 1977 as the band's first guitarist eight months after singer Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and drummer Manny Martinez formed the band. All of his recordings were recorded on the famous '' Static Age'' sessions in February 1978 at Mercury Records CI recording studio in NYC. Emil John Schmidt IV (born December 15, 1974), known professionally as Acey Slade, is an American musician, perhaps best known as the bassist of the alternative metal band Dope and the former guitarist of the horror punk and glam metal act Murderdolls. He is currently the lead singer and guitarist of the band Acey Slade & the Dark Party, and the live rhythm guitarist of Misfits. Previous to this, he served as the bassist in Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and the lead vocalist and guitarist in the punk rock band Trashlight Vision, which broke up in 2007. David Lombardo (born February 16, 1965) is a Cuban-American drummer, best known as a co-founding member of American thrash metal band Slayer. He is currently playing drums with Testament, Fantômas, Suicidal Tendencies, Dead Cross, Mr. Bungle, and the Misfits. Glenn Danzig
Glenn Allen Anzalone (born June 23, 1955), better known by his stage name Glenn Danzig, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, film director, and record producer. He is the founder of the rock bands Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig. He owns the Evilive record label as well as Verotik, an adult-oriented comic book publishing company.
