The Lickerish Quartet (band)
The Lickerish Quartet was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 2017. The group consists of keyboardist Roger Manning, guitarist Eric Dover, and bassist Tim Smith, each of whom were former members of the band Jellyfish. They released the EP ''Threesome Vol. 1'' in May 2020, ''Threesome Vol. 2'' in January 2021, and ''Threesome Vol. 3'' on May 20, 2022. Background Keyboardist Roger Manning, guitarist Eric Dover, and bassist Tim Smith were formerly members of Jellyfish. Dover joined the band during the 1993 tour supporting their second album '' Spilt Milk''. After their breakup in 1994, Manning and Dover formed Imperial Drag, a band which lasted until 1997. Meanwhile, Smith formed one-half of the band Umajets and recorded the 1995 album ''Demolotion'' with help from Manning and Dover. Imperial Drag was an American rock band active from 1994 to 1997. The group, formed after the breakup of Jellyfish, released one album and scored one hit single in the U.S. before disbanding. History Imperial Drag formed in 1994 after keyboardist Roger Joseph Manning Jr.'s previous group, Jellyfish, broke up. Jellyfish (band)
Jellyfish was an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1989. Led by songwriters Andy Sturmer (drums, vocals) and Roger Manning (keyboards, vocals), the group was known for their blend of 1970s classic rock and XTC-style power pop. They released two albums, ''Bellybutton'' (1990) and '' Spilt Milk'' (1993), that proved influential to many subsequent acts in a similar vein. Sturmer and Manning met in high school and shared an admiration for jazz, post-punk, and British pop music. Following a stint as members of Beatnik Beatch, they quit the group to continue songwriting with one another and formed Jellyfish. Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (born May 27, 1966) is an American keyboardist, singer, and songwriter who co-founded the bands Jellyfish, the Moog Cookbook, and Imperial Drag. He has also spent several years as a member of Beck's backing band, contributed to several recordings by the band Air, and toured or recorded with acts such as Jay-Z, Blink 182, and Johnny Cash. Eric Dover
Eric Dover (born January 19, 1967) is an American guitarist and singer, most notably with Jellyfish, Slash's Snakepit, Imperial Drag, and Alice Cooper. Biography Dover began playing guitar when he was 11 years old. He started playing around town wherever he could. He shared the stage with Kim Boyce and was in the group The Extras with drummer Scott Collier in the mid-1980s. The core of that band split off to form the outfit Love Bang in 1991. They were signed to a development deal by Ardent Studios in Memphis and recorded for them for the next two years. Love Bang's album, ''The Rule of 72's'', was released March 26, 2009 and is available on iTunes. In 1993 he joined Jellyfish on tour after the release of '' Spilt Milk''. ''Spilt Milk'' is the second and last studio album by American rock band Jellyfish, released on February 9, 1993, by Charisma Records. It features a harsher and more ornate sound than their previous, ''Bellybutton'' (1990). As with ''Bellybutton'', ''Spilt Milk'' was written and co-produced by founding members Andy Sturmer and Roger Manning. Albhy Galuten and Jack Joseph Puig also returned as producers. Named for the hard work and turmoil surrounding its making, ''Spilt Milk'' was recorded after the departure of bassist Chris Manning (who was replaced by Tim Smith) and lead guitarist Jason Falkner. Guitar duties were instead handled by session musicians Jon Brion and Lyle Workman. Production lasted several months due to the record's complicated orchestrations, and ultimately ran over-budget. Andy Sturmer
Marvin Andrew Sturmer (born March 11, 1965) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and composer who co-founded the rock band Jellyfish in 1989. He was the group's lead vocalist, drummer, and primary songwriter. Following their break-up in 1994, Sturmer became involved with Tamio Okuda, as writer and producer for the Japanese pop duo Puffy AmiYumi. Although Sturmer maintains a low public profile, he continues working as a songwriter for cartoons produced by Disney and Cartoon Network. Jellyfish Sturmer attended Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, California in the 1970s.There, he was a drummer in the school's jazz band, and met keyboardist Roger Manning.
