The Dandy Warhols
The Dandy Warhols are an American alternative rock band, formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. They were later joined by keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford. Hedford left in 1998 and was replaced by Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent DeBoer. The band's name is a play on the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol. The band gained recognition after they were signed to Capitol Records and released their major label album debut, '' ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'', in 1997. In 2001, the band rose to new levels of fame after their song "Bohemian Like You" enjoyed extensive exposure due to being featured in a Vodafone advertisement. The Dandy Warhols were the subject of the 2004 documentary film '' Dig!'', along with San Francisco psychedelic outfit The Brian Jonestown Massacre. O2 Academy Oxford
The O2 Academy Oxford is a night club and live music venue in Oxford, England, operated by Academy Music Group. Its previous names include the Coop Hall, the Oxford Venue, the Zodiac and the Carling Academy Oxford. History Oxford Co-operative Society (1907–1990) The red brick building at 190–196 Cowley Road in southeast Oxford was designed by Harry Wilkinson Moore and built in 1907 for the Oxford Co-operative Society. It consisted of a large hall above three shop units. The hall was used for dances, political meetings of the Co-operative Party and live music. Bohemian Like You
"Bohemian Like You" is a song by American alternative rock band the Dandy Warhols. The song was written by frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor after seeing a woman pull up in her car to the traffic lights outside his apartment. It was released as the second single from the band's third studio album, '' Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia'', on July 11, 2000. Upon its original release, it failed to reach the top 40 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at 42, even after a yearlong tour. After featuring in a popular Vodafone advertisement, it was re-released on October 9, 2001, and peaked at No. 5 on the same chart. The Dandy Warhols Come Down
''...The Dandy Warhols Come Down'' is the second studio album by American rock band The Dandy Warhols. It was released on July 15, 1997, by Capitol. Three singles were released from the album: " Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth", "Every Day Should Be a Holiday" and "Boys Better". This is the final studio album to feature drummer Eric Hedford, who quit the band during the tour, and was replaced with Taylor-Taylor's cousin Brent DeBoer. Brent DeBoer is an American singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon. He is in the bands The Dandy Warhols, Immigrant Union, and Fathead and released a solo studio album, ''The Farmer'', in 2010. DeBoer now lives in Melbourne, with his wife Sarah and two children. DeBoer joined The Dandy Warhols in 1998, after the original drummer Eric Hedford left the band. Zia McCabe (born Aimee Springer; June 2, 1975) is an American musician and realtor. She plays keyboards, percussion and bass guitar, and is a member of American alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols. She is also a solo DJ, and part of a six-piece country music band called Brush Prairie. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in Battle Ground, Washington in 1993. In 1995, with hardly any prior musical experience, McCabe joined The Dandy Warhols. Personal life She married Travis Hendricks on 7 October 2001. Courtney A. Taylor (born July 20, 1967), known as Courtney Taylor-Taylor, is an American singer-songwriter from Portland, Oregon. He is the lead singer and guitarist of alternative rock band The Dandy Warhols, a band he co-founded. Taylor-Taylor has written the majority of the band's songs. Taylor-Taylor has co-written a graphic novel entitled '' One Model Nation'', about a fictional 1970s German krautrock band. It was released in 2009.
