The Boxcars
The Boxcars were an American bluegrass band. In addition to being Grammy-nominated, the band has received numerous International Bluegrass Music Awards both as a group and individually. History The Boxcars were founded by Adam Steffey, Ron Stewart, Keith Garrett, John Bowman, and Harold Nixon. They released their debut self-titled album in 2010 and were nominated for numerous International Bluegrass Music Awards The International Bluegrass Music Awards is an award show for bluegrass music presented by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Awards are voted based on professional membership in the IBMA. Award winners 2021 award winners Th ... the year after. In 2014, Bowman left the group to focus on his career of preaching and singing in churches, releasing a solo album in June of that year. Bowman was replaced by Gary Hultman in June 2014. Mountain Home Records
Mountain Home Records is a record label based in Arden, North Carolina specializing in bluegrass music. History Crossroads was launched in 1984 as a recording studio, Tim Surrett and Mickey Gamble started Mountain Home as a subsidiary label in 1993 at first to release bluegrass gospel music. Soon the label broadened its scope to include secular music, as well. At the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) awards, Mountain Home artists received six awards. At the 2017 IBMA Awards, Mountain Home artists garnered 20 award nominations. Pisgah Ridge Records, an imprint of Mountain Home Records established in 2012, is dedicated to special projects and development of new artists. Adam Steffey
Adam Steffey (born November 24, 1965) is an American mandolin player, best known for playing in the bluegrass and old-time styles. He spent time as a member of bands such as Alison Krauss & Union Station, Mountain Heart, Lonesome River Band, the Dan Tyminski Band, the Boxcars, and the Isaacs. He was most recently a member of the Highland Travelers, which announced on November 15, 2018 that they were disbanding, with Steffey pursuing an alternative profession other than music. However, his retirement from music was short-lived, as he joined the band Volume Five just a few months later. Steffey has also performed with such artists as Kenny Chesney, Clint Black, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, the Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, Rhonda Vincent, Ronnie Bowman, Jim Mills, and others. Ron Stewart (bluegrass)
Ron Stewart is an American multi-instrumentalist in the bluegrass tradition. He plays fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin, and has won the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) award for Fiddle Player of the Year in 2000 and Banjo Player of the Year in 2011. Biography Early years Ron Stewart was born on December 11, 1968 in Paoli, Indiana. Stewart began playing fiddle at age 3 and at age 9, Stewart made several guest appearances with Lester Flatt, and appeared on one of his live albums.
